Where Am I?

Biking Kaslo to Nelson

I like to geek out while having real experiences. I maintain an extensive GPS database from my hikes, bikes, runs, and skis dating back to 2008. Feel free to follow the georss feed, explore the map above or download the GPS tracks below.

The family went to Kaslo for the May Days festival. There wasn't that much happening and we basically stood in line for crappy food truck food for most of the time we were there. But we planned it so that Rosie had a bike ride on the way up (Nelson to Kokanee) and I biked home (Kaslo to Nelson). The ride was pretty fun, but maybe took me a little longer than I expected and there was more traffic than I expected. Had some trouble with @$$holes coming into Queens Bay on the big descent. The climb out of Coffee Creek was terrifying (there's no shoulder and it was darker than I was expecting), but I didn't have any trouble. I took two breaks, one a bit after the hot springs and another at the Harrop/Proctor ferry (I really needed a break at the latter). I had biked this all with John a couple years prior, but I was surprised at how much I had forgotten. Like I remembered Woodbury and Ainsworth being right next to each other but they're like 5km apart. Goes to show that cycling with others keeps you distracted enough that the distance melts away.
