Rosie was helping with the Christmas dinner so her sister's family and Amber and I went for a hike. The first half of the hike was lovely. But on the way back, Amber was tired and hungry and grumpy that we weren't going to the playground. I tried to politely tell them that they (meaning: their family) could go hike other parts of the trails without Amber and I and we could go home. Heather and Tom took this to mean that Heather and Tom could go hike whatever they wanted while I got stuck with all of the kids and all of the dogs. On the last few switchbacks to the car, Max and Sam were torturing Amber by running ahead of her and taunting her, and she essentially melted down for the last 20 minutes of the hike while Heather and Tom were fucking off on some other trail.
